BIO EXPO – 10 June 2019 Nail Competitions

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enter our Photographic and Live Bio Sculpture Nail Competition hosted in conjunction with the Bio Sculpture Expo being held at La Toscana – Monte Casino on 10 June 2019.

Be recognised and awarded for your creativity and skills by enter the competition with Bio Gel or EVO.

The competition will give you, our Bio Sculpture technicians in the industry the opportunity to participate with others and put your skills to the test. The competition is for experienced nail technicians or nail technicians who are just starting out.

The winners in each category will receive a Bio Sculpture prize as well as a certificate and recognition on all our social media platforms. Our first prize winners will also receive a trophy.

10 June 2019 – Live Nail Competition
Lengthening – one hand colour and one hand French manicure

 

Nail Competition Rules & Regulations
Not adhering to the rules and regulations will result in immediate disqualification.

  1. The Live Nail Competition categories will take place on the 10 June 2019.
  2. For a category to take place there must be 3 or more contestants per category.
  3. The live nail competitions are ONLY for BIOGEL and EVO trained nail technicians and professionals.
  4. Please note that registration for the live competition is on a first come first serve basis. Once we have reached the maximum entries, the registration will be closed.
  5. Please take note of what time the competition starts. If a contestant arrives after the competition time has started, they will be disqualified.
  6. There is an additional R100 entry fee per contestant, per category to partake in the competition. In this entry fee you will receive a complimentary Liquid Glass valued at R160.
  7. Payment for the competition will be done on our payment portal along with your EXPO entry ticket.
  8. Contestants must bring all their own necessary products and supplies to work with, as this will not be supplied.
  9. All containers with products in them, such as solutions and gels should be in their original packaging that are professionally labelled.
  10. Contestants need to be present 15 minutes prior to the start of the competition.
  11. Once the competition is over, the contestant and model must remain seated until called for judging. Models may not leave the competition area until all judges have judged them.
  12. Contestants may compete in more than one category.
  13. Models must be provided by the contestant and accompany them to the show, as the organisers are not able to arrange this.
  14. The Models nails must not be damaged and they must not have an infection of any kind.
  15. It is important that all contestants must inform their models that they will be required to be there for judging and the awards ceremony so they will need to be patient and have the time set aside and not leave.
  16. Ensure that your models eat prior to the competition and that they have something to drink, in order to avoid any medical emergencies.
  17. Models are not allowed to wear any identifiable jewellery or garments with logos or advertising.
  18. Only contestants, their Models, Judges and Organisers’ will be allowed into the competition area.
  19. Contestants are not allowed to make use of mobile phones, and/ smoke and/ eat in the competition area during the competition. Contestants and their models are allowed water and cold drinks, but they must not clutter the tables or get in the way of other competitors.
  20. A closed judging system will be used for all categories.
  21. The score sheets for the competition are private and confidential.
  22. The time and location of the awards ceremony will be given on the day before the competition commences.
  23. The competitors and their models need to stay until the award ceremony is over. If they are not present at the time of the award being announced, the next highest score will be awarded.
  24. In the case of a tie, the time factor will be considered, and the contestant who finished their treatment with the quickest time will be placed.
  25. All competitors will receive a Certificate of Participation. Prizes will be awarded to the winners on the day of the competition at the awards ceremony.
  26. The organisers reserve the right to dismiss or disqualify anyone from the competition for unprofessional behaviour, or for not adhering to the said Rules and Regulations.
  27. No educators or persons working for Bio Sculpture (Pty) Ltd at a head office or training centre level can enter the live nail competition.
  28. ducators and persons working for Bio Sculpture (Pty) Ltd can enter the Photographic nail competition. Their work will be marked separately to that of technicians.
  29. Competition categories are subject to change at the Organiser’s discretion due to low participation.
  30. The organisers photographers will be allowed to take photographs before, during and after the competition and at the awards ceremony and they reserve the right to use these within any publications and for future promotions.

Rules & Regulations

Theme – Textured Nail Art

  1. Please enter this competition via email. Your work must be emailed to training@biosculpture.com by 31 May 2019.
  2. Contestants may submit only one entry.
  3. The contestant must submit 3-5 photos which best showcase their work.
  4. Contestants must be aware and not object that all photographs may be displayed at the competition arena for the public to view.
  5. The Photographs MUST be in a high resolution. It needs to be good quality with good lighting where the work can be seen in detail.
  6. Winners will be announced at the Bio Sculpture Nail Competition Award ceremony on the 10 June 2019 along with the other Live Nail Competition categories.
  7. No late entries will be accepted after the due date.
  8. Upon entry, please email your photographs along with your full name and surname, your salon name, contact details and a full step by step explanation of how you achieved your design and with which Bio Sculpture products you used.
  9. Only Bio Sculpture products may be used to create your textured nail art look.
  10. Gems, glitters and other embellishments may be used but kept to a minimum.
  11. You can use any theme along within this category, as long as it is textured. Use your imagination.
  12. Your model may have natural nails, EVO Glue less tips or Sculptures. Please state which lengthening method you used in your email submission.
  13. Ensure that your client’s hands do not have sores, hurt cuticles or any nail disease.

  • Degree of Difficulty

Lengthening Competition

Entries done via webtickets

  1. This is a live competition which takes place at the Bio Expo on 10 June 2019.
  2. Winners will be announced at the Bio Sculpture Nail Competition Award ceremony on the 10 June 2019 along with the other Live Nail Competition categories.
  3. No entries on the day will be accepted.
  4. Only Bio Sculpture products may be used.
  5. You may do any lengthening treatment from your Bio Technician or EVO manual.
  6. One hand must be a French manicure and the other a full colour using a pink or red gel.
  7. Ensure that your client’s hands do not have sores, hurt cuticles or any nail disease.
  8. The competition will start 09.30am.

 

Contestants will be judged on the following criteria for the Live Nail Competition.

  • Gel application
  • Shaping
  • Neatness
  • Overall look
  • (10 Point Checklist)

 

Live Nail Competition Judging

Judging will take place at the start of the competition as well as during the competition. All criteria below will be taken into strict consideration and will count towards your final mark.

Hygiene and Sanitation:

  • Hand sanitizers and other sanitation products such as Hygiene Prep and Surface Cleanser must be visible and be used throughout the competition.
  • Clean Desk Organiser.
  • Working station must be clean and neat at all time.
  • A small bin must be present for disposables.

 

Appearance and dress code:

  • The technicians must be dressed professionally, with hair tied back. As the technician would look in a salon environment.
  • Make-up and jewellery must look professional and not over the top.

 

Products:

  • Only Bio Sculpture Nail products are allowed and must be in their original packaging and properly and professionally labelled. Menda Pumps are allowed, however they must be labelled with the appropriate sticker.
  • Buffers and files must be new and unused.
  • All products needed for the competition must be provided by the technician. From paper towelling to the gels and brushes.

 

Professionalism:

  • Professional table layout and set-up will be taken into account.
  • Contestants and models must behave in a professional manner throughout the competition.
  • Should either you or your model need to leave the competition area, you need to be escorted by a competition official; your time will not be able to be made up.

 

Consultation:

  • Your model should be treated as a client, so you would do everything you would do in your salon environment; i.e. a full client consultation card needs to be completed and visible at your workstation.

 

Model:

Your most important item for the competition is to make sure you have a reliable model with good hands and nails, and who will be there for you the entire day.

  • Make sure she knows what type of commitment is required from her.
  • Make her aware that she is required for the entire duration of the nail competition.
  • Floor judges must be notified of any damage to their models nails, cuticles or skin prior to the start of the competition.
  • No models with contagious skin or nail conditions will be allowed to participate.
